I ride
We went to the circus on Friday night. I wasn't sure whether Ally would like it, or be bored. It turns out that she was pretty tired when we went, and a little cranky. It started out just fine. Ally couldn't really see the tigers, since they were in the ring farthest away from us, but she tired to watch them. She watched the trapeeze (sp?) people "swing" a little. Most of te time she was crawling back and forth over my lap to get to Rob and vice-versa.

Then came out a clown horse. The cowboy clown would try to ride him, and slid off. He tried to get back up, and the horse pulled the saddle off, He tried to climb on a chair, and the horse threw the chair - That kind of stuff. Ally watched it for a short while, then slithered down off my lap, turned around and patted her chest, nodded at us and said "I ride" then she tried to take off running.

I took her out in the hallway for a while and let her run. I bribed her with a cookie and got her back to our seats for a while. Then it was intermission.

They set up a ring for pony rides, and had elephant rides. Ally was kinda scared on the pony, but didn't want off or anything. She just leaned on me and I mostly held her up. Then we went on the elephant. She was so excited to see them. Rob stood up close watching with her while I stood in line. I had to ride with her. I hadn't planned for that. My pants are getting too tight as it is, I could barely stretch my legs that far to sit on his back. Ally had a great time! the whole time (30 seconds or so) she said "I ride elephant, Mommy ride, Ally ride, Ally ride elephant..."

After intermission, we didn't get to stay very long. It was past Ally's bedtime, and she started to throw a fit.

All in all, the circus was pretty much a flop, but intermission was very much enjoyed.

p.s. I didn't even bring my camera! I wish we had a picture of Ally on the elephant though.

kangaroo
I guess Ally noticed the "kangaroos" (wallabies) more than I realized at the zoo last weekend. The last couple days, she has been running across the room saying "boing, boing, boing" then she stops and points at her chest and says "kangoo" and off she goes again. She really likes it if she can get me to go along with her

puppy
We went to Mom's last night, and Ally absolutely loves her (not-a) dog! She held him a couple times, and cried when someone else was holding him. She said "my puppy". She did get tired of him jumping on her and barking a couple times. Also she didn't want to throw his toy when he wanted to play fetch. But mostly she just laughed ansd laughed at him. She said "Duke" (his name) quite a few times. I wish we hadn't had to give up the cats. She absolutely loves animals

Daddy sleeping
Saturday, after Ally woke up from her nap, I took her upstairs and she sat down to have a snack. She was eating peacefully for a little bit, but then she stopped and asked me "where's daddy". I told her he was still sleeping. She started climbing down from her chair while nodding her head at me and smiling really big. She said "gethimup?" (all one word)It took me a while to convince her to let him sleep. About an hour later when she asked again, I let her do it.

I'm having eggs over easy for breakfast. YAY!!! I'm liking this baby more every day

zoo
We went to the zoo Saturday. It started out as a beautiful day. We took Ally to get her flu shot, and she didn't even wimper. We had to spend more time getting her to leave the bandaid "sticker" alone than actually getting the shot. We walked outside, and it started to rain. Crap.

We went home and played for a while instead of going to the zoo. After a little bit, the sky cleared up. We checked the weather channel and the radar looked clear, so off we went again. Rob forgot his watch, so we did a u-ey and back to the house to get it. Whle he was inside, Ally sat in her seat asking me "go zoo?" I guess she was confused because we'd already told her we were going a couple times and failed to actually go. Well, we went.

We got to East Lake Drive and it started raining again. Just sprinkling this time, so we went on. Just before we got there, we left the rain clouds behind. The air was nice and clear, and the temp was just great. All the animals were up and about. They seemed to have enjoyed the rain.

Ally liked to watch the emu and wallabies. She just called them big bird and kangaroos. She recognized the peacocks, and wasn't afraid of them, like she has been before. Of course, they didn't call out this time either. They're loud.

We went to the spider monkeys, and watched for a long time. She loves them. there are 5 or 6, and one had a little tiny baby hanging on. a couple of them were running around climbing, and swinging, and having a good time. There was a towel the staff had put in the cage with them for them to sniff. One put it on his head. Ally liked that a lot. When one would swing on the ropes, she'd say "Whee"

She was sure that ring-tailed lemurs are raccoons.

We fed the goats and pet the horses. I pet the horse first and said "good boy", so every time Ally pet them, she said it too.

Then we got to our final destination. The duck pond. I brought a bunch of bread to feed them. We had a great time. Rob and I gave Ally half slices and let her break it up and throw it in, while we threw some farther out to the ducks she couldn't reach. After a while, Rob told me that Ally was done feeding the ducks. He was laughing at her, so I turned to look. She had taken the last piece of bread that we had given her and shoved it in her mouth. I looked at my watch and saw that it was 12:40. We forgot to feed her. Oops. So we packed up, gave her the lsat of the bread to eat, and got some food from the concession stand. On the way home, Ally asked for some orange juice. We told her to wait til we got home. She asked again; we repeated ourselves. I looked at her 5 seconds later, and she was asleep - out cold. She had walked the whole way around the zoo, and had tired herself out.

feeling better
Ally is recovering. This morning, I actually had to wake her up at 7:15 so we could leave the house. She's catching up on her sleep now. I didn't even have to give her any cough syrup last night. Yay

yahtzee
I had to fix it. It was driving me crazy. I originally only set it up to roll twice. Not only was that wrong, it was about impossible to get a good score. Try this. It's better

No sleep...can't function...Ally coughing...thinks 2 am is time to be happy, and 5 pm is time to throw fits. Why did we want another one?

Halloween
We had a Hall-o-wasn't, according to Pooh. Rain, Rain, Go Away. It was nasty. Ally started to develop a cold this weekend anyway, so with the weather, we pretty much ignored Halloween. I dressed her up and took her to work, but that was it. No candy for Momma.

footrest
Ahhhh... I like my new footrest. It's so comfy. Ally likes it too. She likes to sit on it and swing. I had no idea I'd be using it so much this week though. Good timing.

Did I tell you I lost Ally the other day? For about 5 minutes, I had no idea where the he** she had gone. This wouldn't have been so bad if I had been in my house at the time. No. I was shopping at Kohl's. Obviously, I found her. I was traumatized by the whole thing. That's probably why I haven't mentioned it. I like to blame Rob. Yeah, it was all his fault.

Ally was having a good time running around the racks of clothes while I tried to find a pair of pants that would fit me. I know it's a silly idea, since they won't fit long. However, the only pair that currently fits is developing a thin spot in the crotch. Anyway. we tried on a couple pair, and I was looking for more, when Rob called. He asked me what I was doing. I told him "chasing Ally" because she was running away and laughing at the time. We talked about some inconsequential things. I watched Ally, and then we said good-bye. I turned to put the phone back, and Ally was gone. All Rob's fault - See?

I ran around the store like crazy trying to find her until it became apparent that she wouldn't just come out when I called her. Then I told a customer service lady, and they dealt with making sure nobody stole her while I looked some more. A lady saw me walking around frantically and checked a dressing room (I checked the one I had been in earlier, but she wasn't there) that we hadn't been in and saw a little set of feet that didn't have a parent obviously nearby. She brought her out and got my attention. Ally had no idea what happened. I cried a little. Then I wanted to beat her. I picked her up and she started crying because she wanted to play in the dressing room some more. She just kept saying "room, room". Did I mention that I wanted to beat her? But, I also wanted to hug her so hard and never let go.

She sure can run fast!

sniffles
Ally has developed the sniffles. She's not just much of the green crustys yet, but I'm sure they are on their way. Last night she started coughing. Not just fake coughing (which she was also doing) but deep mucus coughs. Pretty soon we'll have the lovely sneezes that end with snot hanging down 2 feet from her nose, and have me yelling "wait, wait wait! don't lick it. Mommy is getting a Kleenex!!". Ally likes very much to get her own Kleenex if it's not an emergency operation. They sit on our stereo speaker. unfortunatly, she played with them one day, so they are all just kind shoved back in the box. She can't get them out without ripping them to shreds. So, what did I do last night? I pulled a bunch out again, and folded them nice and neat and put them bak in the box for her. God, I'm pathetic.

bored
Can you tell I'm bored today? I have nothing better to do than check my email and fool around on the web. Since I'm not getting any email, I'm getting a lot of updating going on.

maternity clothes
Rob pulled down my maternity clothes form the attic yesterday. God, I forgot how much I hate those clothes!!! It's not the clothes fault. They're just pants and t-shirts for the most part. But, I have about 5 pants and about 9 shirts and some dresses. Not bad - until you have to wear them every day of your life for 4 months or so. (Not to mention afterwards for a little while. Although, if you just never get out of your pj's, it's not so much of a problem after) It's not like I dress with that much variety anyway. But, I at least have the choice. I have a huge closet, and my choices aren't that limited every day. It's depressing to look in your closet and see oddles of clothes that just dont' fit you. I'll have to buy a little more this time, since I'll need some long sleeves, but I'm going to stay in my regular clothes as long as humanly possible.

shopping
We went shopping this weekend and got a bunch of things we'll need for the baby. With Ally, we really didn't know what we wanted, and borrowed or got secondhand almost everything. Now, we (or maybe I) have specific wants in mind. The last bassinett was a little to unstable for Ally to be leaning over to look at the baby. The swings, we didn't like a lot while we had them. And, it was impossible to move them around. The bouncer was very plain and just fine, but it was borrowed and had to go back. (I could probably get it again, but a plain bouncer is cheap). And, lsat time, we were a little extravagant and bought me the expnsive rocker I wanted. We didn't however, buy me the footrest for it.

So, we went shopping this weekend. I found a bassinette that I think I will be perectly happy with. I found a one handed carry swing that sits low to the ground. And I bought my footrest. I'm so happy now. Nursing is good with a good rocking chair, but much better if you can put your feet up too. There are still some things we need to buy, but they aren't big, so we can do it within our budget at any time I think.

We still need a bouncer. I didn't use it that much with Ally. I could propbably have gone without, but I am anticipating needing it more with the next one. Ally will want me to play with her too occasionally. And in a seat, the baby can watch.

I'll have to buy a new crib mattress after the baby outgrows the bassinnette. The old one moved into Ally's toddler bed with her. But, this is good. This way, it doesn't have to be stored out in the garage until we need it again.

Now, if only I could start feeling better for good...

more hiding
Friday night, Darra came up and stayed the night. A little bit before bedtime, I pulled a load of clothers out of the dryer that had her blankets in it. She grabbed one and threw it over her head and hid. The other blanket was new. She got an Elmo comforter (hand-me-down that came with the bed) so I stretched it out on the floor for her to see. She laid down on it and explored it while still hiding. Bedtime came, and I told her to say good0night to G'ama and give her a hug. Nope. she was hiding. So I wrapped her up in the blanket and comforter and took her downstairs to bed. I tried to untangle her to put her in bed and she yelled at me. I convinced her to lay down by promising to let her hide. So, she climbed in bed, I threw the blanket over her and she fell asleep hiding.

She did a similar thing Saturday. I handed her to Rob wrapped in her blanket, and she gave him a hug. After a little while I went in to check on her after she was asleep. I pulled the cover off her face, and she started whining and wimpering. She said (in the most pathetic voice ever) "hidin hidin". So I let her sleep under the blanket. whatever...

I hate the time change
Fall backward is so great - my butt. I don't get an extra hour of sleep. I just have to be awake an hour longer. Ally woke up right on schedule Sunday at 6:00 which was now 5:00. Then, she got to stay up a little later, because we don't want to continue that early waking. Rob and I were staring at the clock at 7:30 wishing for bedtime.

my daughter is psychic
Yesterday, Ally wanted to play outside, and it was gorgeous. Of course, we let her. She made some sand castles ("sand puzzles") and played in her sand box for a while. She ran around playing on her slides, and generally having a good time. It started to get a little chilly out, and she started singing "rain rain go away". I looked at the sky, and there were no rain clouds. I asked her where the rain was, I didn't see any. She ignored me and kept singing. About a minute later, it started raining. The cold wind moving in brought a little bit of rain. About 5 minutes worth. It was very odd. She must be psychic. (or maybe, it's just a coincidence since she sings that song about 2 hours out of every day anyway)

sleep
Thursday night, I checked the temperature in the house while I was awake all night. It was much too warm. Ally is a hot baby. If she's too hot, she's cranky. Friday, I tried an experiment setting the thermostat a lot lower. Ally has slept just fine since then. Thank God. If our next baby is not a hot baby like Ally, she's going to have to live in fleece footy pj's
